baggage

Things happened. Bad things. Most of the time you didn’t have any control over them. Yes, when look back today you think : I should have done this and shouldn’t have done that. But then hindsight is always 20-20, isn’t it?

So what do you do about these incidents? Forget them, hang on to them or learn from them and move on?

I know they are bad things. They shouldn’t have happened in the first place. They were unfair, scary, traumatizing. They hurt you so much. But they did happen, right! Life doesn’t have ‘control+Z’ button and that can’t be changed now. Can’t you just forget them? I know that’s not easy. And maybe you should not forget them. Maybe that way you will make sure they don’t happen again.

Or do you just hang onto it? Live with the fear that these bad things are going to happen to you any moment all over again? That there is someone out there out to get you? Do you just live with that fear every moment of the rest of your life?

How long can you go on like that? How many bad memories can you afford to keep on the top of your mind till they colour the good ones too. Till they spread to people around you. People who love you. People who care. Till they also start living with those demons in their heads. They tip toe around you, afraid to talk too loudly in case that sets off one of those demons. Whenever they do anything around you they are half expecting you to say: “oh please never never do that. I can’t handle it. Something happened to me once….”

Baby,I know. they really did happen. And it still hurts. Hug hug hug.

But isn’t it time to try to let go and move on baby. Isn’t it time to stop running and face life.

If you can let go, great...that's probably the best way to deal with stuff. But not all of us can let go, can we? But, I think, running away from a problem/memory that one can't deal with is a good, practical approach :-)

letting go isnt always as easy as taht, we need to find ways of living with it and if we can do that then tahts a step forward but there will always be times taht you fall and find it hard to pick yourself up and go again.

We can't live in fear forever its not healthy for any of us.

Mind boggling post :)

hindsight is always 20-20....wow!

your post mae me think. made mw wonder. made me scared.
yes we need to move on but sometimes letting go is the toughest. we all know what is best for us and that moving on is inevitable.
but we hang on. till that last minute where hope dies. till then, there is hope to make it all good.
confusing. maybe we're gluttons for punishment...not maybe, we are.
good post. don't know what more to say...

I try to learn my lessons and let go. It's not always easy our minds have a strange way of recalling those experiences from the recesses of our memories. It's how we deal with those recalls that also tells us how we have grown, walked away or changed as people for the better or worse.
Letting go is also cathartic. Loved your post.

I write on this theme so often. It's so hard to move on. Some people never do.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

ctrl + Z"
naahh- i wouldn’t want this function in life. Coz then i'd not be able to track my mistakes and see when where and how i am improving or evolving for that matter

I will sulk, crib, cry, forgive, forget, smile, love, cherish and move on. This is my circle of life

I welcome both good and bad. Only pray for a fair balance to be maintained- which i leave to my deeds and some unknown supernatural force to conduct

we can never un-experience. But we can let time wash away the ugly spots. perhas i am naive, but i do believe that letting go is not as difficult as its made to sound; if you distract yourself enough - with work or wine ;p or other healthful alternatives

I keep running around and around,
When all I want is to lay motionless;
So, will you look for me in that
Strange bright place?

There is no such thing as letting go and moving on.
